Non-Profit Pathways - A Non-Profit by Nature Initiative

A significant need has been identified in the Columbia Valley for training support for non-profit organizations. The Columbia Valley Community Foundation, in partnership with Non-Profit by Nature, a local partnership specializing in non-profit capacity development, are addressing this need through the development of a pilot “Columbia Valley Non-Profit Pathways”.

This initiative will provide the opportunity for 5 local non-profit organizations to receive 8 months of support and training to help build their capacity. This will include 4 hands-on workshops that will support organizations in strategic planning, communications, identification of resources, fund development, evaluation of programs and reporting.

Local organizations can apply to participate. Up to 5 organizations will be selected for the pilot. They will have the opportunity to:

  • Send 1-5 representatives to a series of 4 one-day workshops (To encourage organizational sustainability, preference given to organizations where more than one board member/staff member can attend.)
  • Develop customized tools for their organization including a Case for Support and Funder Prospect List
  • Receive individualized support for up to 6 months after the workshops
  • Have the opportunity to showcase their programs to funders in person

Applications open on October 5, and will close on November 15. We will notify applicants of the success of their applications by November 30.  Four workshops will take place in 2019 with follow-up support available for 6 months following the completion of the last workshop.

Applications will be adjudicated based on the capacity of the organization to undertake the work, the benefit of participating, the strength of the team of individuals participating, and a preference for an overall diversity of teams working across sectors.
