To fulfill donor wishes, applicants must have resided and attended school in the Columbia Valley for a minimum of 5 years. Applicants must be between 17-35 years of age during year of application.
Applicants are eligible to obtain a maximum of 2 student awards. (Does not have to be in subsequent years.)
Approval of repeat applicants is dependent on funds available at the time of granting; preference may be given to first time applicants.
Internships are eligible if the applicant is registered as a student through a post-secondary institution and schooling costs are incurred.
Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted. All fields must be completed. The Foundation will review submitted applications up to 7 days prior to application deadline.
Student Award application and Letter of Reference (including completed Letter of Reference title page) to be submitted together.
Emailed applications will only be accepted in Portable Document Format .pdf
The inclusion of a cover letter is strongly encouraged. The Foundation reserves the right to request additional information from applicants.
Applications to be accompanied by one Letter of Reference.
Letters of Reference to be on letterhead (where applicable), to include referee contact information and must be signed by referee.
Applicants to provide referee with Letter of Reference title page. Repeat applicants to supply a different Letter of Reference than on their first application and it must be from a different referee.
Letters of Reference from relatives are inadmissible.
Applications are adjudicated in May and applicants are notified of the outcome of their application on or before June 15th. The award covers expenses incurred in the period from May 1, 2018 through to April 30, 2019.
Successful applicants must submit Proof of Enrolment (letter from Registrar) and supporting receipts within 90 days of commencement of schooling. All paperwork must be received by April 30, 2019.
Provide receipts equal to, or greater than, the student award approved. If receipts are for a lesser amount, the award will be reduced accordingly. If all required documentation is not received by the deadline, the student is ineligible to receive the student award. The student would be eligible to re-apply during the next student award intake.
Inform the Foundation of any changes to your education plan that may impact your eligibility for this award. If no longer eligible for an award, inform the Foundation as soon as possible. (For example, you are not accepted or withdraw from a program.) The award is not transferrable to other programs or time frames.
