“The Edgewater Legacy Garden was a success. Members of the village came out to help weed and thin out the beautiful flowers. Children enjoyed their Mr. Freeze reward for their hard work. The pollinator workshop was well attended, and the leaf cutter bees did a great job pollinating the garden and area. People from the community learned how important pollinators are and how to support them.  Volunteers picked the flowers we grew to give bouquets to community businesses (Legion, Pips) to thank them for all they do to support the community. Children learned how plants grow, and the different types of root flowers and weeds have. Volunteers also learned how to identify the different types of flowers planted by the children. Volunteers are now working to clean up this year’s flowers to plant milkweed to support next year’s butterflies.”

The Edgewater Community Legacy Garden project received funding through the Neighbourhood Small Grants program in 2024.
