Once in a while, you are fortunate enough to have a friend like John Mason.
While embracing a new adventure on Nov. 11, 2017, sadly John passed away at Wickaninnish Beach, in Tofino; Kari, his wife and soulmate, by his side with his young son Shawn nearby.
John was out doing something that he loved, having fun outdoors with his family.
He was the kind of person who inspired many people. John was a character that was larger than life; full of “Johnnie-isms” that kept him smiling and those around him. There are so many stories of how John helped the community over the years without ever asking for anything in return.
John Mason was about lifting people up – always out to support the underdog.
The John Mason Memorial Fund will do the same – providing a lift for those skiers who show promise, and may not have the support to get on the podium.
The intent of those who established the fund (including Shawn, John’s son and Freestyle Panorama Ski Club Member) is to provide multiple years of funding to support Freestyle Panorama Ski Club skiers.
Who will the fund support?
The fund will support Freestyle Panorama’s skiers who may not have the resources to get on the podium. (Competitive and non-competitive athletes)
Type of support?
The fund will provide a helping hand to make dreams come true – just as John Mason would have wanted.
