This September, the neighbours of Pine Ridge in Invermere came together for our first Pine Ridge Community Day — a day designed to connect, learn, and celebrate our little corner of the valley. The event was entirely volunteer-led, organized by a small group of neighbours who wanted to create something that reflected our shared values of nature, connection, and care for the place we live. We had over 50 neighbours take part throughout the day — from early risers on the morning hike, FireSmart clean-up, to those who came out for the afternoon BBQ and wildlife talk. Volunteers stepped up in every way imaginable: coordinating food, setting up tents and tables, leading hikes, sharing local expertise, and making sure everyone felt welcome. Our event took place throughout the Pine Ridge neighbourhood — starting at the Toby Creek Road trailhead, continuing with a FireSmart activity around our community green spaces, and wrapping up in Chalets common area for a BBQ and talk led by neighbour and wildlife expert Steve Michel.

The Pine Ridge Community Day: Neighbours, Nature & Know-How project received funding through the Neighbourhood Small Grants program in 2025.
